Chamber Welcomes New Teachers to Henderson County

The Henderson County Chamber of Commerce, through its Workforce and Education Committee, welcomed nearly 70 new teachers to the community at its annual New Teacher Breakfast on Wednesday, July 29th, at the Blue Ridge Community College.

Presented by AdventHealth, Wilsonart International and Optimum, the breakfast is held each year at the close of summer to thank and encourage educators as they begin the new school year in Henderson County Public Schools.

In addition to a warm welcome and a hearty breakfast, provided by The Salty Landing, each teacher received classroom supplies from members of the Workforce and Education Committee. This year, donations were given by AdventHealth Hendersonville, Champion Credit Union, Mars Hill University, Optimum and Stuller Power Solutions.

“Our Henderson County Public Schools are key partners in the community’s workforce development, and this is an opportunity to connect with local educators who are new to the area,” said Graham Fields, Assistant to the President at AdventHealth and Chair of the Workforce and Education Committee. “Our business community is grateful for our teachers and their many contributions to the area.”

The morning began with introductions from each teacher, giving attendees a chance to connect with the newest members of Henderson County’s education family. During breakfast, two guest speakers shared valuable insights to help the teachers settle in and thrive: Kayla Castro of the Henderson County Education Foundation on community involvement, and Cole Ordiway of BluAxis Realty on local housing.

The program wrapped up with an exciting surprise from Optimum: a $100 Amazon gift card for every new teacher to help stock their classrooms.
