Small Business Committee

Mission: To help the small business members of The Chamber become and remain successful. Increase the value of membership.

Goal:

  • Provide opportunities for training, information sharing, networking and advertising for small businesses.
  • Inform the general public about the importance of the small businesses in Henderson County and why we should support them.

Action Steps:

  • Re-constitute the Silent Partner program to include “SBA Day” type sessions for accounting, marketing and legal subjects.
  • Continue supporting current CEO Roundtable and review need for offering an additional group.
  • Host monthly seminars that use local facilitators and address a variety of business related subjects.
  • Host quarterly seminars that address business community needs.
  • Coordinate, promote and produce the “Small Business Week” celebration.
  • Continue efforts to encourage citizens to shop locally.
  • Identify and honor the small business leaders of the quarter and year – improve selection process.
  • Appoint a member to serve on the Business Morning Update planning committee.
  • Initiate Chamber sponsored Leads Group.
  • Explore concept of Sky-High Growth awards similar to the Asheville Chamber program.
  • Coordinate the Business Booster Breakfast series. Topics to include accounting, legal, marketing, social networking, etc. Program co-hosted by BRCC-SBC.
  • Review need and feasibility of creating a Chamber sponsored Young Business Leaders organization or a Professional Women’s Group.
  • Organize and promote a Member-to-Member discount program.
